What happens to traditional music when it settles comfortably in the west? Mingling enthusiasm for the traditions of their ancestors with an airy approach to modern life in the west, there is never a dull moment in a Willson & McKee performance.

Since 1990, this husband and wife duo has concentrated on educational programming as well as the highest quality concert performance. This standard is reflected in their stage presence, nine recordings, and prestigious awards such as the Walton’s of Dublin/ Milwaukee Irish Festival International Songwriting Competitions (4 awards), a National Instrumental Championship title and others. Appearing on multiple state touring and educational rosters, an average year has them on the road 10 months, reaching over 10,000 students, and hundreds of performances and teaching opportunities in communities large and small.

Their hybrid of Celtic and contemporary acoustic music is full of grace and style, reflecting the moods of their life in the Rocky Mountains…. Entwined as only veteran performers can do, traditional songs are re-worked to a contemporary shine and a drop of the ancient is added to the originals. The fine line between the centuries takes advantage of tight harmonies, unusual instrumentation, stories and and an intense desire to have fun! Let’s just say this is not your Grandfather’s Irish music, sloshing pub music, or simple folk tunes! Intelligent, thought provoking, fun, soulful! What good music should BE!!

Technical requirements: Artists are self contained for audiences up to 300. For audiences over 300, the sponsor would need to provide auxiliary amplification and speakers.

Fee structure: Performance $800 to $1,500; Workshops, cultural/historical lyceums, master classes $200. SDAC support up to 50%.
