Touring Arts Years 2011-2012

INTRODUCTION

South Dakota Arts Council (SDAC) Touring Arts help make the arts available in all regions of the state by providing funds to non-profit sponsor organizations for presenting Touring Arts. The artists and art exhibitions listed in this roster have been selected on the basis of quality by review panels and the South Dakota Arts Council. Fiscal Years 2012 Touring Arts may be booked from July 1, 2011 to June 30, 2012.

Touring Arts may be sponsored by any South Dakota nonprofit organization, unit of government or educational institution. Matching funds of up to 50 percent of the program cost may be provided from the SDAC. However, support is subject to availability of funds allocated to the Council’s program from state and federal sources. Please make arrangements to book Touring Arts as soon as possible to ensure the availability of the matching funds to your organization.

In 1966, the South Dakota Arts Council was created by the Legislature to provide encouragement, recognition and assistance to the arts in all their forms throughout the state. The Council is the advisory board to the SDAC staff within the Department of Tourism and State Development. Council members are appointed by the Governor.

Touring Arts programs are co-sponsored by the South Dakota Arts Council through an appropriation from the State of South Dakota, through the Department of Tourism, and a matching funds grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.
