DUANE REICHERT
BACKSTAGE WITH A RODEO CLOWNDuane Reichert

Theater is not limited to a velvet-curtained stage, and drama has many faces. Duane Reichert presents a performance genre unique to the culture of the American West—the rodeo clown. Reichert opens a dramatic, colorful world to students with the use of stylized make-up, traditional clown garb, comedy skits and animals. His 45-minute performance ranges from the dramatic elegance and grace of a matador to the exaggerated greasepaint and garish colors of the original theater clown, Harlequin. He can comfortably perform for an audience of up to 200 in an indoor setting. A one-day engagement will include three or four sessions. Reichert has performed before an estimated six million rodeo fans throughout North America in 42 states and Canada in 46 years of experience as a rodeo clown. This 1991 inductee to the South Dakota Hall of Fame has worked as Barrelman Clown at the Dodge National Finals Rodeo in Pocatello, ID, the barrelman specialty act at the First Frontier Circuit Finals Rodeo and was one of the opening acts at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas in 1999, 2001 and 2002 and was the barrelman specialty act at the 2005 Badlands Circuit Finals Rodeo. Backstage with a Rodeo Clown has toured 1,500 locations in 22 states and four Canadian provinces.
