DAKOTA PLAYERS
Dakota Players, provides a rare and unique theater experience for young people across the Midwest, allowing them the opportunity to perform with professional theater artists in a full-scale musical production. One-week residencies culminate in a musical production using up to 54 local children, with suitable parts designed for every age, skill and experience level. The production experience will include five days of intensive rehearsals in which the lines, staging, songs and dances will be learned. In addition to more challenging roles, older students serve as assistant directors and learn how to operate the sound and lighting equipment. Two Dakota Players actor/directors play major roles in each production.
Technical requirements: Performance space at least 28’ wide, 16’ deep and 10’ high (flexible), two rehearsal areas available throughout the week—one preferably being the performance space, one dressing room (can be classroom or locker room near stage), two 110 volt power sources available to performance space, secure storage for show items, uninterrupted access to performance space two hours prior to the scheduled dress rehearsal through the end of the performance.
Fee structure: Performance residency $2,000 to $2,600, Workshops $75. SDAC support up to 50%.
