DAKOTA CHAMBER ORCHESTRADakota Chamber Orchestra

The Dakota Chamber Orchestra is composed of 20 to 30 professional musicians drawn from the 85-member South Dakota Symphony Orchestra. The ensemble introduces audiences across the state to the live orchestral experience through an engaging mix of 18th to 21st century repertoire, conducted by music director Delta David Gier. Audience involvement is encouraged and listeners are invited to greet musicians and conductor after the concert. Chamber orchestra concerts offer a greater degree of intimacy than full orchestra presentations and are suitable for a smaller concert hall or a church setting. A full-length program normally lasts just over 90 minutes with intermission. Shorter programs of approximately 50 minutes are also available.
Technical requirements: Small stage and 25-30 straight-back, armless chairs, with one Manhassett-type music stand per chair. Adequate lighting, room temperature at 68-80 degrees and ventilation. Performance space must be available two hours before performance.
Fee structure: Performance $5,000 to $10,000. SDAC support up to 50%.
