Gordy Pratt

Gordy Pratt brings 30 years of experience as a song writer, guitarist and performer into the classroom. Students learn basic song structure and writing process culminating in a concert of the songs they write and perform. The sessions deal as much with language and storytelling as music. The goal is to give students a vehicle for personal expression.

Through the course of the residency Gordy also presents a history of western music through classical guitar repertoire.

Gordy studied music in New York, London and San Francisco. He’s a published songwriter and loves working with kids. Since moving to Spearfish he has been a songwriter for the Elder Wisdom project in the local elementary school.
